Season wrap up… Already?
It always feels like such a short season! I just returned from what will likely be my last trip of the working ski season. I spent five days on the road in Oregon, three of which were spent with Glide Nordic and She Jumps coaching at their 4th annual Ski, Wine, and Yoga Retreat at Suttle Lodge near Sisters, Oregon. We hosted a fantastic group of women, offering both skate and classic ski clinics, along with a guided light-backcountry tour. We practiced yoga in the afternoons, and had lessons in chemistry and wine tasting from Oregon wine maker, Anna Matzinger in the evenings. All three days were laden with feet of new snow, and it was supremely special to get to cozy up with this crew at Suttle Lodge, and get out coaching on the quiet, snow filled trails of Central Oregon. Somehow, we continue to hit epic weather windows with this event, despite changing the dates each year!
Following the retreat I headed north to Hood River to facilitate an instructor training at Mount Hood Meadows Nordic Center. I had 11 clinic participants, and each brought focus, enthusiasm, and thoughtful insights to a full day of training. We worked on personal ski improvement, explored foundational technique cues, and discovered new ways to coach skiers with clarity and confidence. Many of these instructors are eagerly preparing to to get their PSIA Level II or Level III Instructor Certifications next year.
Upon returning to the Methow, I’ve been reflecting on my season, trying to take note of what has made it most fulfilling, what I hope to repeat next winter, and which areas I’m excited to grow and develop further. This season was marked by:
260 skiers taking lessons through this new coaching platform (Peak Form)
30 days on the road, traveling for training/coaching
15 different clinics which came out to 27 coaching days
Thank you to everyone who has made this season so successful and filled it with good company and hard work.
Looking to the future, I’m excited to be able to meet the demand of so many clients who are eager to supplement their off season with strength or dry-land training, or looking for a running coach to optimize their cross training this summer. Keep you eyes out for these updates and opportunities for us to work together more soon!
More to come!
