Happy Summer!
I’ve spent the last two months getting reacquainted with my tool belt and getting out on the local trails as they start to open up— the spring flowers this year have been incredible!
While my spring is often scattered with late-season work trips for clinics and conferences, I spend the majority of my time during this season doing carpentry work. During the summers I build custom homes here in the Methow Valley— After ski season I’m back on the job site, picking up framing, or doing finish carpentry on the houses we framed the year before.
I spent a week in April working in Alaska which was a treat— It always shocks me how short the flight from Seattle is, and how promptly you can be surrounded by big mountains, glaciers, and spring-season snowy passes. Despite having the better part of a week there for all the activities, we managed to backcountry ski, trail run, and cross country ski all in the same day! The following days were slightly mellower. :)
May kicked off with the PSIA Spring Conference in Denver, Colorado where PSIA National Team Members like myself and other representatives from across the country came together to outline and develop supporting curriculum for National ski instructor certification and regional alignment.
And now it’s already June!
We’re back into the summer swing of things, and with some exciting new projects in the works!
I’m currently in the process of getting my Ultrarunning Coach Certification through UESCA. Running has long since been a way to challenge myself, and to reflect, process, train, and explore. I’m eager to flesh out my coaching resume and knowledge base, and am particularly excited to do so in a direction that supports a community I am so fond of (runners and skiers!). More on that to come!
Here’s to more hours of daylight after work, and long weekends ahead, exploring new trails!
Cheers,
Tulie
